The Royal Grounds of Vale are the last bastion of nature left in the entire city, despite the fact that the area was once a great forest within the valley of a river delta. Perhaps this is why the elves were so angry upon returning to their former homes - this humble historian dare not form an opinion over such a matter.
The Royal Grounds themselves are so named because they once were just that: royal. Despite the fact that the old Natine royal family fell from power in favor of the guilds of Vale, the Natines still hold ownership of a great many properties, including the Royal Grounds. As such, it is illegal for the vast majority of the populace to enter, and it is especially illegal to hunt for those who do not have the permission of the family.
